World crude steel output down 2.4 percent

Global crude steel production in April this year decreased by 2.4% year on year and 3.1% month on month to 161.4 million mt, according to the World Steel Association (world steel).in the January-April period this year, global crude steel production decreased by 0.3% year on ear to 622.7million mt.
In April, crude steel output in Asia amounted to 121.1 million mt. down 1.5%. with China's output at 92.6 milion mt, down 1.5%, with 7.2 milion mt produced by Japan, decreasing by 3.1%, 10.7 million mt produced by India, rising by 3.2%, and 5.7 million mt produced by South Korea, moving up by 3.0% - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.
EU-27 countries produced 11.1 million mt of crude steel in April, down by 11.7% year on year. In the given period, Germany's estimated output amounted to 3.2 million mt, down 3.8% year on year.
Turkey produced 2.7 milion mt of crude steel in April, with a 20.6% decrease compared to the same month in the previous year. The ClS registered a crude steel output of 7.5 million mt, advancing by 5.9% on year-on-year basis, with Russia's estimated output at 6.4 million mt, down 1.9% year on year.
In North America, in April, crude steel output totaled 9.2 million mt, falling by 4.6%, with the US producing 6.6 million mt, dropping by 5.3%, both year on year. Crude steel output in South America in March amounted to 3.6 milion mt, decreasing by 2.2% compared to the same month in the previous year, with Brazil's output totaling 2.8 million mt, falling by 5.9% year on year.
In the given month, Africa produced 1.3 million mt of crude steel, growing by 4.8% year on year. in the Middle East, crude steel output totaled 4.2 million mt. moving up by 4.2%.
